PLEASE, LET'S DEFINE THE BRADLEY EFFECT CORRECTLY

In his November 1st Town Hall column, "The Spiral of Silence", Wynton Hall improperly defines the Bradley Effect.
(
http://townhall.com/columnists/WyntonHall/2008/10/31/obamas_spiral_of_silence)
Since we are going to hear endless prattling from the media about the BE after Obama's vote count falls drastically short of his poll numbers and McCain sweeps to victory, it is important that we get this definition correct.

Named after  democrat Los Angeles Mayor Thomas Bradley who lost his race for California governor in 1982 (and again in 1986) after leading comfortably in the polls prior to the election, the BE was the result of people's fear of being characterized as "racist" if they indicated to a pollster that they were intending to vote for Bradley's opponent.    Bradley, the minority candidate's, poll numbers were inflated because of the sheer number of undecided or Republican voters who told pollsters they were voting for Bradley rather than risk being judge a racist.

Hall erroneously indicates in his column that the Bradley Effect is the result of actual, latent racism.    Again, since the fevered minds of the radical left are going to be screaming "racism" endlessly and vociferously after Obama loses, we simply cannot afford to let the dems define the Bradley Effect.

I predict that the BE in 2008 is going to be far greater than it was in 1982.   Today's political climate has been racially hypercharged
by the supposedly post-racial candidate, Obama.  Let's not forget that the left has never been faster on the draw when it comes to pulling the racisim trigger than they are today.   Recall that Hillary's tears after one of the democrat primaries, were called racist by the Obama camp.   Most recently,  a liberal loon opined in his column that the word "socialism"  was a code word for "Black."  Therefore, to call BHO economic policies socialist was racism, pure and simple.

In a campaign where anything and everything can be deemed a "code word" for some other nefarious epithet that must never be uttered in public or private,  the fear of being unfairly deemed a racist is greater than ever.  Undecided in your vote?  Just tell the pollster you're voting Obama, get the clown off the phone and get back to dinner.    Leaning toward McCain?  Uhoh, do you really want to tell that to this cipher with the clipboard.   Just say, "I like Obama" and get on with your shopping.   Can't be too careful, nowadays.

So Obama leads in the polls.  Big deal.  We are going to find out that McCain is ahead in the hearts and minds of the electorate.

Sorry, Barry, old buddy, old pal.......It's not your year.  By the way, 2012 is not going to be your year either, my duplicitous friend.  By then -- even if you haven't been indicted in the Rezko affair -- all of your carefully hidden little secrets will be public domain, and your carefully crafted simulacrum of substance will be the stuff of farce.  You will be nothing more than a bizarre historical footnote!  How Sweet It Is!

AYERS IS NO "WASHED UP OLD TERRORIST"

During his last debate with Obama, John McCain brushed off William Ayers as nothing more than a "washed up old terrorist."

Such a cavalier dismissal underestimates the damage that a dedicated marxist continues to wreck from within our ideologically debauched educational system.

In the October 16, 2008 Wall Street Journal, Sol Stern, a Senior Fellow at the Mannhattan Institute, reveals some appalling facts about Mr. Ayers' more recent accomplishments.  Mr. Stern notes, "In the world of the Ed. schools, Mr. Ayers' movement has established a sizeable beachhead.  -- witness his election earlier this year as vice president for curriculum of the American Education Research Association, the nation's largest organization of education professors and researchers."  (An unrepentent terrporist is VP of the AERA?  Wait, it gets better.)

Or consider this:  "Mr. Ayers was hired by the Chicago public schools to train teachers......"    Though Ayers calls himself a reformer, Stern saliently notes, "In fact, as one of the leaders of a movement for bringing radical social justice teaching into our public school classrooms, Mr. Ayers is not a school reformer.  He is a school destroyer."

Let's not lose sight of the fact that this man is a terrorist.  Arrested in connection with multiple Weather Underground bombings but spared prison time on a technicality in the 1970s, Ayers chortled upon his release from jail, "Guilty as charged.  Free as a bird."

This is the same Bill Ayers who, in his fourth trip to the marxist paradise of Hugo Chavez's Venezuela in 2006 said to Chavez, "We share the belief that education is the motor-force of revolution..."

This is the same Bill Ayers who in 2001 stood on an American flag for a cover photo of Chicago Magazine.

This is the same Bill Ayers who, in an interview with the New York Times in 2001 said, "I don't regret setting bombs, I feel we didn't do enough." And, when further pressed if he would do it again added, "I don't want to discount the possibility."

This is the same Bill Ayers who in 1970 planned the bombing of a dance social at Ft. Dix, New Jersey, with the intent of killing dozens of United States soldiers and their dates.  (This was the bomb that detonated prematurely in a Manhattan townhouse, killing three members of the Weather Underground and sending Ayers and his terrorist wife Bernadine Dohrn into hiding.)

Yes, this is the Bill Ayers that Obama worked with on the Annenberg Challenge and with whom he wasted $150,000,000.00 on radical educational programs that a later Annenberg audit determined produced no educational improvements and no successful programs.

Yes, this is the same Bill Ayers, that Chicago Mayor, Richard J. Daley, Jr. -- for whom no one on the Left is too radical -- described as having "...done a lot of good in this city and nationally." So America's schools of education, whose students have the lowest SAT's scores of all disciplines in the United States, are also irredeemably marxcist and radical, and at the center of it all stands William Ayers.  Before John McCain or any one of us, for that matter, are tempted to dismiss Ayers as a "washed up old terrorist" remember this:  The vermin of the radical left NEVER stop gnawing away at the foundations of our house.

In 1970 Ayers, the bomb-trowing terrorist, was dangerous. In 2008 Ayers the the radical, ideolgue school reformer, is
even more dangerous!

BARACK THE BARBARIAN

Of course Barack is a radical on most issues.  But on one particular issue he is more than radical, he is a barbarian.  That issue is abortion.

Why?   Because of his support for partial birth abortion, and even worse, his belief that a baby that survives an abortion attempt must be deprived of medical care and left to die in ignominious solitude.   PBA is bad enough.   How can any person or society that claims a modicum of civilization countenance a procedure that pierces the skull of a perfectly formed, healthy, beautiful and viable infant
and sucks out its brains?

How can anyone -- especially that sophisticated, urbane, Haaaaaaavard trained, metrosexual named barack -- be so radically devoted to the concept of abortion that he would deny medical care to an infant that survives a botched abortion?   This is savagery, pure and simple; and anyone that supports it, is himself a barbarian of the first order.

Before proceeding any further, let me define myself.  I am agnostic, so I bring no religious argument to this debate.  I am very conservative, usually vote Republican, but am decidedly moderate on the issue of abortion.  I believe that it would be imprudent to outlaw abortion, but that it is necessary to strictly control it.   I believe, for example, that no minor should have an abortion without the consent of her parents.  I believe that partial birth abortion is both inhuman and inhumane.  I believe that a fetus upon attaining viability is confered with its own Human rights.

Conceptually, abortion is nasty and ugly.....particularly nasty and ugly when routinely utilized as a woman's primary birth control device. And let's not pull any punches here, the farther along in development the fetus is, the nastier and uglier the procedure gets.   Even if necessary to protect the life of the mother,  it is ghastly business.

I do not, however,  believe that Human life exists at the moment of conception.   Is it life?  Yes, of course it is!   Is it Human.  Well, It is certainly of Human origin!     But, perhaps there's a better question to ask:  Is the fetus at the point of conception a Human Being?  No, it is not.  And it is not, for the same reason that we allow doctors or family to "pull the plug" when a patient is brain dead:  The absence of discernible, coherent brain activity.

Like the brain dead patient, the fetus is a living organism, but it is not what we recongnize as a Human Being.   It is on the way to becoming a Human Being, God willing, but it is not yet there.

Ignoring -- only for sake of this argument -- the lack of a constitutional basis for Roe v. Wade, the original trimester formula for discerning the presence of life has a logical basis, although it must be acknowledged that subsequent court cases have essentially gutted Roe's trimester formulation.   Nonetheless there is a strong rational behind the formula:  In the first three months, the fetus is nascient life only, and the mother's rights must prevail.  In the last three months, the fetus is -- especially given modern medical capacities -- capable of life outside the mother's womb and MUST be accorded its own rights vis-avis the mother.

And that leaves the middle trimester. Ay, there's the rub!    Who's rights prevail here?  The mother or the  fetus?  Obviously this is the most difficult of grey areas,  especially in light of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's observation that the trimester formula was on a collision course with itself, as advances in obstetric medicine inevitably pushed the point of viability ever closer to the moment of conception.

But for our purposes here,  we need not address the issue of viability.  Can any rational person doubt that a full term, viable infant is a Human Being, even if its head -- and only its head -- is still inside the mother's birth canal?   Of course not, only a hopeless ideologue could so argue.  Only an individual who has cast aside his own humanity could so argue.  Only a barbarian!

That's bad enough, but consider the cruelty and savagery of the man who says we must not give medical care to a surviving infant, because to do so might hinder the cause of abortion itself.  Where is that man's compassion?  Where is his humanity?  There is none, for that man is a barbarian.

And this brings us to the essence of Barack Hussein Obama.......a man so blindly devoted to his radical ideologies that he is willing, when necessary, to check his humanity at the door and to wreck unspeakable cruelty upon the innocent.

Beyond the well tailored suits, beyond the florid rhetoric, beyond the winning smile there lies a monster, a savage.......a barbarian!

SECRET BALLOT PART II

McCain  often states that Obama consistently fails to stand up to the democrat special interests, but he never cites any examples to bring this claim to life.

Here's how McCain should respond, using this issue:

"Mr. Obama has never once stood up to the special interest groups in his party.  In fact rather than stand up to BIG LABOR, Obama is willing to take the sacred right to cast a secret ballot away from America's workers.   He is a strong backer of the union written bill that would eliminate the secret ballot in all union elections.  How would you feel if you had a union thug with you in the voting booth?  How free is your choice when a hulking union rep thrusts a ballot in your face and says, "Here, sign this!   For most Americans the secret ballot is the heart of our democracy.  But, to Obama,  the will of BIG LABOR is more important."  CHECKMATE!

SECRET BALLOT IS A WINNING ISSUE FOR MCCAIN

Elections often turn on small issues, especially when the pivotal issue is simple, easy to explain and cuts to the heart of core American beliefs.   Obama's assault on the secret ballot is a slam dunk winning issue.  Lord knows, McCain needs a pivotal issue right now.  Why isn't he using the card check bill to bludgeon Obama into submission.

It is time for all of us to force this issue into the spotlight.

The secret ballot is a revered part of our heritage.  Everyone understands it, everyone instinctively and intuitively believes that it is sacrosanct.    Yet Obama, proving his credentials as a Big Labor shill,  backs the card check bill that the unions desparately crave.

The bill -- shamelessly and cynically titled the "Employee Free Choice Act" -- deprives employees of the right to a secret ballot in elections to determine if they will be represented by a union.  Apparently, Obama's idea of "free choice" is to allow employees to be browbeaten by union thugs and goons.

Obama strongly supports this bill, but he doesn't want Americans -- other than Big Labor -- to know that.  So this powerful and potentially pivotal issue has been ignored by the relentlessly pro-Obama media and, consequently, is unknown to the vast majority of the American electorate.   It is time to trumpet this issue.

Fundamentally, this issue is a "two-fer."   Not only does it place Obama squarely against a right that the American public holds dear, it definitely proves his slavish devotion to Big Labor.   It undeniably shows that he would deny Americans a fundamental right rather than stand up to any of the democrat special interest groups.

The charge must be levied loudly and vehemently, "Obama is opposed to the secret ballot."   How can he possible repond?  How can he possibly defend his position?   Will he say, "No, I am only opposed to the secret ballot in union elections."   No one is going to buy that argument.  To the average American it's simple, "Keep your damn hands off the secret ballot.   Union election or not, leave the secret ballot alone!"

This is a fire storm issue.  One that people "get" at the gut level.   Any fair minded person will intuitively and immediately recognize the kind of union thuggery implicit in the bill.

This issue is a poweful Obamacide.  Time to spray the roaches.

NEWS FLASH: NEW YORK TIMES ENDORSES SARAH PALIN

Can you believe it?   I quote directly from the New York Times:

"Where is it written that only senators are qualified to become President?.....Where is it written that governors and mayors. . . .are too local, too provincial?. . . Presidential candidates have always chosen their running mates for reasons of practical demography, not idealized democracy. . . .What a splendid system, we say to ourselves, that takes little-known men, tests them in high office and permits them to grow into statesmen...Why shouldn't a little-known woman have the same opportunity to grow?"

Oh wait,  that's the New York Times endorsing Geraldine Ferraro on July 3, 1984.  Hmmmm, sound like the Old Gray Lady has been a tad hypocritical lately, don't it?

CALL THEM BACK INTO SESSION, NOW!

Pelosi, Reid and the democrats are on the wrong side of the drilling issue and it is time to hammer them into submission.

The President needs to call the Congress back into special session immediately.  Polls show that the country is strongly behind the Republican push to authorize wide spread drilling.  Unbelievably, 51%  of CALIFORNIA voters polled this last week favored offshore drilling.   Yes, you read that right.  51% of CALIFORNIA VOTERS.     This is clearly a watershed moment.   The President cannot allow this opportunity to get away.

Pelosi's heavy handed petulance in turning off the lights while Republicans were attempting to rally support for extending the session to allow for action on drilling has highlighted the obstructionist tactics of the dems on energy.

The President, with John McCain at his side, needs to announce the urgent need for action on energy and call for a special session.  The Republicans need to take to the airways and announce their unanimous support for a special session.

The entire party especially must demand that Obama take a firm position on the special session.  Yes or No Barrack?  No in between.  No BO BS!  Yes or no, plain and simple.

While the President can call a special session, he cannot force the congress to act.  But this is win-win for the President and the Republicans.   The media spotlight will be on the special session.  If Pelosi and Reid continue to keep this issue from getting to the floor in a special session, their craven beholding to their special interests will be front and center for the entire country to see.

With oil prices hovering at $120+ and the Republicans clamoring for action on energy, the dems are caught between the Scylla of obstructionism and the Charybdis of alienating their base.    Win-Win for us.  Lose-lose for them.

Here's is perhaps the most important reason for calling the Congress into special session:  Public relations insurance if the drilling dispute shuts down the government later this year.   The dems are going to refuse to bring budget appropriations to the floor, because to do so would allow Republicans the opportunity to offer amendments concerning drilling.

They are willing to force a government shutdown with the intention of placing the blame on the Republicans.   They are fondly remembering the government shutdown that resulted from the Clinton-Gingrich budget impasse in the mid 90s.  Gingrich and his party took it on the chin for that one.

But that was then, this is now!   First, this time the public is on the side of the Republicans.    But most importantly, by calling a special session now, and perhaps even a second special session if Congress fails to act, Bush immunizes the Party from blame if a shut down does occur.   The President can point to his calls for a special session on energy as definitive proof that the Republicans tried mightily to avoid a shut down.

This is jugular time.  The dems are down.  It is time to stomp on them mercilessly.   If Obama can be tainted with Pelosi's intransegence on this issue, so much the better, he will never recover.   Sic 'em, Mr. President!

NO SENATORS FOR PRESIDENT, PLEASE!!!

There ought to be a law, or more properly, there ought to be a Constitutional Amendment.  One sentence, neat and simple.

NO PERSON CURRENTLY SITTING AS A UNITED STATES SENATOR OR WHO HAS SO SERVED WITHIN THE PRECEDING FIVE YEARS SHALL BE ELIGIBLE TO HOLD THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

Think about it.  What qualities do you want to see in a presidential candidate.  Unless your answer is  "An unchecked ego and an infatuation with the sound of one's own voice", you are not going to find the qualities you are seeking in the Senate.

What do Senators do?  They talk (blather endlessly, is more like it) and they hold hearings (at which they beleaguer mere plebes such as you and I with imperious arrogance).  That's it.  That's the job resume.

Pick someone, anyone, currently ensconced in the Senate.  Ted "The Splash" Kennedy,   Joe "Plugs" Biden,  Mary "Where am I" Landreau, Babs "The BoxKite" Boxer, Chucky "Where's the camera?: Schumer or even Barrack "PSI" Obama.   What are their qualifications to do ANYTHING, let alone handle the presidency?

Would you hire any of these people to work for you?   Would you entrust your family, your business, your portfolio, let alone your country into the care of these people.  Hell, I wouldn't let any one of these clowns feed the goldfish while I'm out of town for a couple of days.

Sadly, this includes John McCain.  Look, faced with the whining duet that is "Barry and Michelle" I am firmly, albeit reluctantly, in McCain's camp.  But let's all fess up now,  when the primaries were still ongoing,  we conservatives asked ourselves, "What are John McCain's presidential qualifications, really!!!!!!"    True war hero, yes indeed.  But if that were the sole criterion, Segeant York and Audie Murphy would have occupied 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue post-WWI and WWII.

What then?  Commander of the largest naval squadron?   Okay, a little better.....some managerial aspects there.....but c'mon, this is still the man who has so little regard for business that he could scornfully disdain Romney's gold plated business resume in the nasty "private sector" as compared to McCain's lofty "service." Obviously, McCain's squadron leadership experience did not help him comprehend that there is nothing unseemly or unacceptable about the country's largest corporation posting the country's largest quarterly profits.

What else?  Well, we know he will defend the country more competently than "Mr. We Are The World!"  Beyond that, what qualification does McCain have.  Why the hyper-inflated senatorial ego, of course!

But let's not dwell on Johnny Mac.  This is about senators, per se, and not about individuals.

Taken as a group, the United States Senate is, perhaps, the most UNQUALIFIED group of individuals in the country.  Sure, there are the occassional bright lights, but they are few and far between.  And for those rare individuals, the proposed amendment has the five-year preclusion.  A truly deserving potential candidate can restore his presidential elgibility by leaving the Senate and proving his Bona Fides elsewhere, hopefully in the private sector.   The five-year waiting period gives the former senator the chance to show that a real person lies within and has survived the pompous, posturing preening  that is endemic in the so-called upper house.

Think of all the fatuous, empty suits (or skirts) whose candidacies would not have been inflicted upon us had this amendment been enacted:   Hillary, Barrack, John Edwards, Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, to name but a few.

Now all we need is a name.  Ah, yes, the NBSA......The No BullS*** Amendment.   Let the petitiions roll!

OBAMA VICTORY = ISRAELI STRIKE ON IRAN

Take it from one of those eeeeeevil speculators:  Don't look for a major drop in the price of oil until well after the election.   We may be down about 15% from the recent peaks, but that is well within normal market fluctuations.  I may be small potatoes when it comes to the extent of my speculation in the commodity markets, but I am well attuned to where the big boys are putting their money.

Those insiders are convinced that Israel is not going to stand by and let Little Man Ahmandinijad brings his nuclear weapons dream to fruition.  If Obama is elected, the Israelis are guaranteed to act before he takes office on January 20, 2009.    They have no faith in Obama's commitment to protect Israel or prevent Iran from getting nukes.

An Israeli strike, whether with or without United States' support or participation,  is guaranteed to disrupt oil traffic in the Middle East for anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months.  Iran has credibly threatened to shut down the straits of Hormuz if their nuclear facilities are attacked.   Don't doubt that they have the means to do it.

Roughly 17 million barrels of oil per day or about 40% of all ocean-carried oil is shipped via tanker through these narrow straits.   All of the oil squeezing through the 21-mile strait is well within range of Iranian missiles and aircraft.   The sinking of only a few tankers would be sufficient to render those waters impassable.

If Israel is acting with the support of the United States, you can expect the American Navy to try to keep the straits open, but the Iranian response is likely to be intense.  It is possible that the Iranian response will also include strikes against its neighbors production facilities.  Facing Iran across the gulf and the straits, after all, are Saudia Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait.  (We won't even consider here the 40,000-60,000 missiles aimed at Israel by Iranian proxies in Lebanon and Gaza.)

World producers, consumers and  -- yes -- speculators are hedging their bets based upon the expectation that a huge oil stockpile crisis is just around the corner.

While an Obama election guarantees Israeli action between November 4, 2008 and January 20, 2009,  a McCain election victory does NOT eliminate the possibility of a strike against Iran, it merely widens the window of opportunity.  The Israelis know that they can count on John McCain to support action against Iran's nukes, and therefore, they will not feel compelled to act by January 20, 2009.

Of course, there is also the more remote possibility that Israel is already in possession of information concerning Iran's nuclear progress which makes immediate action necessary.  Whether Israel, under such circumstances, would take the risk of being accused of trying to influence the U.S. elections by acting before November 4th is unknown -- most likely remote, but not impossible.

Therefore, the threat of massive disruption of oil supplies is with us today and will be with us AT LEAST until January 20, 2009 if Obama is elected.   The risk remains if McCain is elected, but the action deadline will be extended to that time when Israel -- and perhaps the United States -- determines that Iran's nuclear program is approaching the point of no return and must be stopped then and there.

Think about it:  If you were a big money producer or consumer in the oil markets wouldn't YOU be hedging your interests right now?  Only a fool would not!

Oh, and by the way, only a complete idiot (are you listening Miss Pelolsi) would be thinking about drawing on our strategic oil stockpiles now, when a massive market disruption may be only weeks away?

HAS BARRY'S SOLDIER SNUB BEEN VERIFIED?

Following is a post from Townhall.com today.  It is purportedly a statement from an American soldier in Afghanistan describing the Obamarama's snubbing of the troops.  DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS CAN BE CORROBORATED?

Subject: Won't see this on ABC
or as they're now known - All Barack Channel

This is a note from a warrior in Afganistan about Obambi's recent "tour of doody." Apparently the snubbing of the wounded soldiers in Germany was no fluke.

Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to 'The War Zone'. I wanted to share with you what happened.
He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States. I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know
what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

OKAY, THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT!

Well, not the devil.  But gosh darn it, I'm blaming this one on the wife.  I know it's not the honorable thing to do, but Hey, it's the truth!

My nascient attempts at joining the blogging community may not be marked by soaring prose, but generally my spelling has been competent.  (For which I sincerely thank the dear Sisters of Providence at St. Sylvester grammar school in Chicago, Illinois.  I could also thank them for the constant ringing in my left ear, but that's another story.)

But, just as I was finishing off (As in putting it out of its misery) the previous blog entry, my lovely wife prevailed upon me to have a look see at the vacuum cleaner carpet height adjustment which did not seem to be properly carpet height adjusting.  (She was right by the way, although fixing said problem is woefully above my pay grade.)

So after vacantly staring at the vacuum and numbly mummbling, "Yep, don't think that things working right, Maw" I returned to the computer whereupon sat my blog entry which I mistakenly thought had already been spell checked.  The end result:  Two, not one, but two spelling errors; And one of them was in the OPENING LINE!  Sigh!

Okay, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.  Sister Marie Borgia I apologize!

IT'S BLACK AND WHITE FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!

Have you seen McCain's Bumper Sticker?   Lordy, somebondy please tell me this abomination is not for real.

When the mail arrived yesterday, I groaned at the sight of another fundraising solicitation from Ol' Johnny McCain..  I've been consistently tossing these out unopened, but figured that we're getting into the last 90 days and maybe it was time to consider opening the pocket book. Afterall maybe there really was a chance that the MSM's favorite maverick would make an effort to stop poking me in the eye long enough for me to fill out a check.    So open it I did.

Out falls a decal.   I put down my coffee and stare.   This is a campaign bumper sticker?   A near solid black oval -- an abyss broken only by the white lettering "McCain 2008."    This is the best the campaign can come up with?   It's positively funereal!   And speaking of funerals, my dad, rest his soul, was an undertaker.   I distinctly remember the processions of funeral cars each one with a window sticker stating simply "Funeral" to separate them from other road traffic.

Those funeral stickers were Disney animation compared to this McCain decal!

Okay, I know that McCain is in some sense the UN-Candidate:  The restrained, steady, dependable veteran in apposition to the shining, glittering jewel of lint that is Obama.

But BLACK?   If it's understatement they're after, why not leave off the lettering entirely and build the campaign around nothing more than the black oval.   That's the ticket!  McCain 2008:  THE ABYSS!

THE SADNESS THAT IS OBAMA

Of all the emotions that have taken hold of me during this campaign season, none has been more intense than the overwhelming sadness that has resulted from the Obama candidacy.   Is it possible that a majority of my countrymen have reached a state of such historical ignorance and emotional immaturity that they will vote for the most unqualified -- if not most dangerous -- presidential candidate in my lifetime........perhaps of all time?

It appears that huge segments of the populace have divorced themselves from both history and reality.   I am reminded of the woman who
who was overwhelmed by a presentation given by Dennis Prager (www.dennisprager.com) on the Israel/Palestinian situation and simply refused to acknowledge the truth.   To believe Prager, she said, was to acknowledge that the situation was fraught with danger and, most probably, unresolvable in her lifetime.   "I won't believe that," she concluded.   Nothing further in the way of argument did she offer.....nor, most likely, was further argument even necessary, in her mind.

There was no need to respond to Prager's evidence of Arafat's and Fatah's treachery and perfidy.   There was no need to acknowledge the written evidence of rabid, bestial anti-semitism in the Palestinians.  There was no purpose in examining the reality of Jewish presense in the middle east decades before the 1947 formation of Israel.  The truth was uncomfortable, even ugly.  Therefore, she simply chose to ignore it!

Now I fight back waves of disappointment and sadness, as I watch Americans wilfully ignore the realities of the world in which we live so that they can pretend Obama -- the (very young) man who would be king --   is anything other than the callow, smug, self-centered, naive solipsist that he is.

Al Queda?  No problem, Obama will talk to them!    Iranian nukes?  No problem, Obama will charm the plutonium right out of their hands!  150million muslims screaming, "Death to America?"  No problem, just wait 'til they see them Obama pearly whites!    Obama surrounds himself with anti-American radicals?  No problem, they didn't really mean it!    Obama is the most trenchantly partisan socialist lefty in Congress?   Aw c'mon, we don't need labels and divisiveness!

For well over 200 years great and noble men have sacrificed dearly for this country and its founding principles and some -- precious few --continue to do so today.  These brave souls -- rich, poor, native, immigrant, black, white -- have fought, suffered and died to defend her and ensure that she remains the exceptional beacon of truth, freedom and light that she has always been.

But now,  a major portion of our citizenry acts as though America can exist on auto-pilot.    Yes, I know, there has always been a strain of isolationsim in the American psyche.  But today it seems the mantra is that the entire world will be just fine if America will only leave it alone.  With some international help in the past but more recently nearly alone, America  has stemmed the spread of tyranny.

I guess to a possible majority of my countrymen, that's just not our job description anymore.  Well then if not us, who?  Sad.   Very sad.

Where are the defenders of constitutional democracy?  Where are the advocates of capitalism?  Where are the believers in "peace through strength?"   Where are the acolytes of "One nation under God?"   Where are the devotees of individual freedom?

They're not in the democrat party, I can tell you,  and they're not voting for Obama.

Sad.  Excruciatingly sad!

THE UGLINESS OF WINDFARMS AND SOLAR

Okay, let's see if I have this right.

ANWR is 19,000,000 acres of desolation, all of it situated above the Arctic Circle.  Only 60 days a year does it experience anything even close to full sunlight.  If ANWR were a state, it would be larger than ten other states in the Union.

It is proposed that the U.S. permit oil drilling on a small portion of that 19,000,000 acres, about 12,000 acres or roughly the size of Dulles Airport in Washington D.C.   But no, we cannot be allowed to defile this desolate, albeit pristine, wilderness.

Same with off shore drilling.  Drilling platforms on the outer shelf would not even be visible from the mainland....not even from the highest skyscrapers near the coast.

But the environmentalists want to put wind farms in every conceivable pass or plain which affords steady, reliable wind flows.  These wind farms consist of hundreds, even thousand of six to ten-story behemoths that are themselves a blot upon the landscape.    Make the drive from Los Angeles to Palm Springs some time, and you will be appalled at the silhouettes of hundreds of these whooshing monsters sprouting like gargantuan mushrooms along the horizon.

How man millions of these mechanical abominations do the enviros propose that we scatter across the countryside from coast to coast?   We already know that they are too ugly for Teddy "The Splash" Kennedy to abide in his watery play grounds off Hyannis Port or Martha's Vineyard.

And Solar?  Let's concede that roof top solar panels can be relatively unobtrusive and that technology will continue to make them even less and less so.

But, what about the massive solar farms that are proposed by the greenies?   Working technologies include massive solar mirror arrays covering thousands of acres of  land.  One technology includes solar water towers hundreds of feet high onto which acres of parabolic mirrors focus rays of sunlight that produce steam to run electric generators.

I don't know about you, but the wonder and majesty of the Mojave and Sonoran deserts and even Death Valley are some of the things I have come to love most about living in Southern California.    I can't drill in ANWR. but it's okay for you to litter the desert with thousands of acres of new age Easy Bake Ovens.  I don't get it.

As for the danger of polluting the pristine ANWR or the oceans of the outer shelf, can we please get real?   Modern drilling technology is astonishingly enviro friendly.  Can we not admit the truth that drilling in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska has for 20 years been effectively pollution free.  None of the environmental perils envisioned by the green cassandras has occurred.  The Prudhoe pipeline has been an unqualified success with no environmental incidents of significance.

Of course, we must not forget the caribou.   We were told ceaselessly that drilling operations and the Prudhoe pipeline would pose a major threat to the precious caribou.    Since drilling began in Prudhoe, the caribou herds -- a randy bunch apparently -- have increased from 3,000 head to more that 38,000.  Some threat!

And let us not forget, that drilling technology has improved by quantum degrees since operations first began at Prudhoe, decades ago.

We obsess endlessly on the devastaton of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.   But, completely forgotten in the left's Katrina lamentations is that the hurricane blasted through the highest concentration of off shore drillling rigs in all of the United States without a single oil spill of consequence.

So let's cut the BS, please!   DRILL HERE!   DRILL THERE!    DRILL EVERYWHERE, DAMNIT!  AND DO IT NOW!

WHO PAYS A COMMUNITY ORGANIZER ANYWAY?

Mark Steyn (www.steynonline.com) has repeatedly asked on the Hugh Hewitt radio program (www.hughhewitt.com), "What is a community orgainzer anyway?"

An excellent question, indeed, but here's another one?  Who pays a community organizer?  Specifically, exactly who or what paid The Obabmacon while he was busy organzing his community?  Was he on the Cook County payroll?  Was he on the City of Chicago payroll?  I mean, what with his real estate financing through the First National Bank of Rezko and all, The Obamination appears to be nothing more than a typical, Chicago street pol.

When I was gorwing up in Chicago we called them "ward healers" and, quite often, much worse.    Today, apparently, they are "community organizers."   (Cue the choir and the golden spot light!)   Either way, it appears that the fabulous Mr. O is just another Mayor Daley hack bought and paid for by the Chicago machine?
